The Sandhills Heritage Gateway is brought to you by the Sandhills Area Land Trust, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration.
Thank you to our three core project managers:
Outreach Coordinator – Sandhills Area Land Trust
Primary SHG project coordinator, Jesse Wimberley’s mission is to help conserve the land upon which generations of his family have lived and worked. Jesse often does freelance work with the Sandhills Area Land Trust, and provide wildlife education to children and teens through visits or camping at his Lighterwood Farm in West End.

Art Director – Black Sheep Design
Branding, copywriting, collateral and website design by Dana Danielson and her creative flock at Black Sheep Design. Dana moved to Seven Lakes from suburban Chicago at the age of 12. After graduating from East Carolina University, in 1998 she followed her heart to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she worked in a variety of creative agency roles before launching Black Sheep in 2003. When her father was placed with FirstHealth Hospice in 2009, she returned home to help care for him the last four months of his life. Four years later, after not having returned to AZ full time, she realized the old “sand in my shoes” adage was indeed true, so she sold her house out west and bought a 1929 cottage in the Weymouth neighborhood of Southern Pines. Happy to be home, and concerned for the future of the area, she saw this project as an opportunity to help preserve this very special place.
